great job

before i say what im going to, i want to say that i liked your game. you obviously put a lot of hard work into it, even if it turned out fairly shallow...

when i saw the "authrors comments" about this game, i was afraid that it would be similar to my game that im working on. its similar in a few aspects, but nowhere near the same. which is good for me i guess.

also, i thought that the IDEAS you put into the game were excellent, but the game needs some sort of tutorial, just to give the user an idea of how gameplay SHOULD be, just to even out gameplay. from the start, it isnt very clear how civil unrest works, money supply, food in- and outflow.

if you impliment this into a deeper game, youll have created something amazing. i stand by my score of 4, but you certainly did a good job with this game.

THANK YOU!!!!!

It is confusing! I know! It's next to impossible to learn it all! But THANK YOU!

great game

this is a great computer adaptation of DDR. the only complaint i have is that every once in a while the key wouldnt work for me. i KNOW for a fact that id be pressing the correct key, but nothing would happen. it kept ruining my combo. when you overlook this small problem, it is an excellent game.

and this would be a great way to make a series that showcases many audio portal submittors. i mean, unless the submissions they are featured in do VERY well, the people in the audio portal dont get nearly the attention the flash artists do. this is a good way to get some of the spotlight their direction.

TalosAT responds:

Hmmm really? Ive never had that problem out of all the times ive played it.. perhaps you have a sticky key on your keyboard? o.o Hmmm.. that is an intresting idea... Perhaps if i can figure out a way to make the letters move to the songs... instead of just random hehe

great job ^__^

great game. im proud to protect it. these games are monotonous, and i cant sit thru them, but i am a scripter, and i know what work this game mustve been. be proud of your skills. its very impressive.

wonderful work

excellent work. you deserve the 5/5 i gave you. this was smooth, professional, and a great example of what can be done with sprites (instead of just remakes and crappy movies). youve created something with infinite replay value, and an excellent difficulty curve. i suck at it, but it is something im definately going to go back and replay.

Kenney responds:

Thanks! Be sure to look out for Mario's Time Attack 2!

good concept.

that is uncanny how it wont work in firefox. this is the first game that has given me that problem. overall, the concept was simple, yet fun. and i still lost when i put my cursor in the corner... once the speed got fast enough, one of the balls rocketed into the corner and managed to hit me. still, fun game, keep it up.

kdb003 responds:

i dont know about the firefox thing. i think it may be how it loads the movie, because all of the code in the load section doesnt seem to run. thanks.

good job

youve made a solid platformer, which is something not many can say. a few improvements i would suggest is to work on the jump strength, and think about a new theme. this really has no correlation with final fantasy. you have done well for your first shot at actionscript, and if you want a bit of help with some of the basics (ie., replay buttons, preloaders, etc), just email or instant message me...

...you have potential, obviously. stick with it, and you are sure to create some great games.

wow...

this game is an excellent example of what belongs on newground. clean, quick, addictive, and incredibly immersive. even after getting eight levels into the game, i still enjoyed it just as much as the first level, despite the consistant gameplay; i never once got bored of the action.

i love this game. definately one of my new NG favorites.

Asvegren responds:

This is the kind of reviews I appreciate ;)

I'm very glad and flattered that you liked the game!

im just nosy i guess

how many layers did you use?
and how did you do the duplicateMovieClip command if you didnt have any symbols? and if you didnt use the dupMC command, how did you have it generate the boxes?

and the controls were sorta annoying. i couldnt go diagonal. i had to wait til i had gone right before i could go up, etc.

gorman2001 responds:

i use only one layer.

btw, u can duplicate MC that were created with createEmpyMovieClip... that's what the game is...

great work... solid game here

i loved it. ive been working on games specifically since i started flash, so i am able to look past quirky controls, and see the effort that went into this. i think you have a very solid piece of work here, that, with some minor tweaking and some time, could be made into an amazing flash rendition of a classic. i think the recoil after you hit a goomba should be somewhat larger, and the script that slows you down (when you let go of the arrow key, the deceleration) should be just a bit more responsive, but otherwise, you have done amazing.

keep up the excellent work. all my 5 belong to you.
i gave you a 9 in interactivy for control problems
i gave you a 7 in style because i think the levels should be a bit closer to the classic setup
i gave you a 10 in graphics because mario is... mario
i gave you a 7 in violence because goombas are people too
and i gave you a 7 in sound because i am a heartless bastard

incredible

this game is amazingly addictive. im sorry, but i honestly think that you should not update this any more. i think improved graphics would actually make this game worse. the simplicity of this game is what makes it so easily accessible. i wouldve easily given this a 6 if i could.

im addicted. this is one of my new favorites.

5/5... was there any doubt?
